Dr. Jay C. Dumas serves as Dental Director at Daughters of Charity Health Services in New Orleans, La. His career began in 2000 the at Dumas Dental Clinic as an associate alongside his father.
After Hurricane Katrina, he relocated to Baton Rouge and served as Dental Director at Capital City Family Health Centers from 2005-2008. In 2008, Dumas returned to New Orleans and re-opened Dumas Dental Clinic and affiliated with the Archdiocese Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), exclusively providing dental care to the participants in the program. In 2010, Dumas was hired to help launch and implement the Dental Clinics for Daughters of Charity Health Services. He has been the site dentist at Bridge City Correctional Center for Youth since 2010, and involved with Resurrection After Exoneration (RAE) since 2011, providing pro bono dental work for citizens who have been wrongly convicted and exonerated in Louisiana.
Dumas has served as president of Pelican State Dental Association, president of New Orleans Dental Society, and as a member of the National Dental Association. In 2011, Dumas was named a Health Care Hero by New Orleans City Business and has been recognized by New Orleans Magazine as a Top Dentist in New Orleans (2009-2016). He has served on the boards of YMCA Greater New Orleans, Resurrection After Exoneration (RAE), and Son of a Saint. Dumas also works closely with Youth Empowerment Project, providing dental services to the youth enrolled in the program.
