Margo Phelps, a proud and native New Orleanian, is a respected voice for reform and renewal for New Orleans and for Louisiana.
She is currently the Chair of Citizens for 1 Greater New Orleans, where her leadership and persistence have helped to transform education, governmental oversight, and criminal justice. She is a passionate voice for improved ethical standards in juvenile justice and an advocate for domestic violence reform.
Margo is a tireless community volunteer who is passionate about community service. As such, she has served as a leader on numerous boards including the Choice Foundation, Louise S. McGehee School, the New Orleans Crime Coalition, the Metropolitan Crime Coalition, St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church and the Louisiana Children’s Museum. She has participated in the Greater New Orleans Foundation’s Impact 100 Advisory Council, the Cowan Institute’s Committee for the Urban Education Future Conference, as well as the Urban League’s Civic Engagement Working Group for the State of Black New Orleans 10 Years Beyond.
