2018 YLC WEDNESDAY AT THE SQUARE FINALE FEATURES SHAMARR ALLEN AND ROBIN BARNES & THE FIYA BIRDS
Known as the “Songbird of New Orleans,” award winning artist Robin Barnes has been featured in Forbes, Southwest Magazine, Travel & Leisure, Marie Claire, Southern Living, and more. Her unique blend of funky jazz, soul, and R&B earned her a #5 debut on the Traditional Jazz Albums Billboard charts in 2016.
Trumpeter Shamarr Allen draws from jazz, hip-hop, rock, funk rhythms, blues and country. Allen has collaborated with many renowned artists around the world, including Willie Nelson, Patti LaBelle, Galactic, Harrick Connick Jr, and Lenny Kravitz. In addition to displaying his skills on the front-line as a lead performer, Allen is also a highly-successful composer, writer, and producer.
YLC Wednesday at the Square is presented by Young Leadership Council (YLC) and free and open to the public. The concert series continues every Wednesday at Lafayette Square in downtown New Orleans until May 30. Proceeds from food, drink, and VIP Pass sales support YLC’s community service projects and leadership development programs. VIP passes are available at www.ylcnola.org.
